Residents are encouraged to continue enjoying their lifestyle, pastimes and interests at The Good Shepherd Home.

A range of social and recreational events are offered in the home's dedicated Day Therapy Centre including crafts, cooking, woodwork, gardening, bingo, sing-a-longs, and Friday ‘Happy Hour’.

Regular outings and events are organised by the The Good Shepherd Home's Leisure and Lifestyle Officers including trips to the cinema, theatre and shops, bus tours around Townsville, fishing and day trips.

Newspapers, books, DVD's, and CD's are available for loan, and our mobile library service visits the residents weekly.

Men’s Shed

A range of tools and materials are available for our residents to use to continue their woodworking hobbies.


For residents who enjoy spending time by the water, our home is not only located on the banks of the beautiful Ross River, but also located adjacent to the Palmetum Gardens precinct.  Palmetum boasts rich flora and fauna and accessible walking paths. The bench seats and rest areas provide a tranquil location from which to surround yourself with nature and catch up with family and friends.


The Library has a wide range of book titles available for residents to borrow.
