A home that cares about more than profits

The Good Shepherd Home, has been caring for the aged in the Townsville community for more than 40 years. The Home is sponsored by the Anglican Diocese of North Queensland and is a registered not-for-profit organisation. The governance of the home is overseen by a local Council, comprising of a range of Townsville based community members who bring with them a diverse range of skills to ensure the Home's mission and values align with sound management.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the number one focus of the Home is to provide excellence in care for our society's most frail and The Good Shepherd Home is ready to be visited by family, community members or government auditors at any time. Quite simply, we welcome feedback that drives improvement in our operations because we want the very best outcome for our residents and their families.

Whilst sound financial management is a critical component of our philosophy, we are not 'profit-at-any-expense' driven. The Good Shepherd Home invests in continual improvement, in order to provide exceptional care for our 200 plus residents, now and into the future.

At The Good Shepherd Home, we understand the decision for a family member to move into an aged care home is often a time of stress, high emotion and uncertainty. We also appreciate that recent media focus on the aged care industry has raised more questions than answers. The Good Shepherd Home is here to help with your personal aged care journey and our admissions team is ready to assist you with any inquiry.
